Bounce

Morgan loves to bounce. Last week, we went to Jon's command picnic and they had one of those big inflatable moonwalk things. Morgan probably spent an hour in there bouncing and bouncing and bouncing. I had to get one of the older kids to carry her out of the thing when it was time to go! (I sure as heck am not going in there after her right now!)
Yesterday we went to The Bounce House which is a big warehouse filled with moonwalks of all different sizes and types. Morgan just couldn't get enough. I thought she might be afraid of some of the bigger ones - including a gigantic slide - but, no. She was climbing, bouncing, rolling, and having the time of her life.
Sooo happy!

The Big Slide

Baby Update - 37 weeks

Another good check-up this week. Morgan got to hear "baby brother hammering" again. I hope he's trying to hammer his way OUT because it is getting very very hot here. This morning I thought it might be nice to head down to storytime early and take a quick walk around the lovely tree-lined neighborhood behind the library. It was not nice. We made it about 3 blocks before turning back. It was 9:30am and quickly approaching 90 degrees. YUCK!

More name clues:

4. Despite my long-time opposition to nicknames, the first name we have chosen has a commonly used nickname
5. The first and middle names have the same number of letters and have more letters than Morgan.
6. The first and middle names share 3 internal letters (same letter, same position), but the names neither rhyme nor have the same number of syllables.

Don't forget last week's clues!

Happy guessing!

Go to sleep

It is now nearly 10pm and Morgan is not asleep. She woke up at 6:45am, had a nap from 1-3pm, went to the waterpark for almost 2 hours before dinner, and went to bed a little after 8. She has been cycling between singing, talking and crying ever since then. She had sure better sleep in tomorrow!!!

Baby Update - 36 Weeks

Had a good OB appointment today. I finally gained the recommended 1 lb a week! (I'd been pretty close to doubling that for the last several months.) I think I eat less because the baby is squishing my stomach and I get very full very fast. The baby has a good heart rate and my belly is a good size. My blood pressure was totally normal and everything else looked good too. I get to go back to the doctor every week now! Yay! That means its almost time!

Guess the Name

Well, we think we've settled on a name for the baby. But no, we're not telling anyone yet. We will, however, let you guess. I will post several clues over the next few weeks. Make your guesses in the comments section and if you guess correctly (and you can only guess once per post) you'll get a fabulous prize!
Here are your first clues:

1. Neither the first nor the middle name were on our orginal "names under consideration" list.
2. The first name is pretty traditional - it has biblical roots.
3. The first name is also pretty popular having been in the top 150 boys names since the 1970s.

Good luck!

Don't worry - I didn't take pictures

But don't think I wasn't tempted! This past week, Morgan reached a very important and much anticipated milestone -- she pooped in the potty! Every. Single. Day. I never realized poop could make me so happy! She still protests a little bit and complains that it "hurts" or is "too stinky, ewwww" but every day gets easier and easier. It is such a relief and means that we have nearly reached or potty training goal of having Morgan daytime trained by the time the baby is born. In a week or two we plan on seeing if Morgan can do naps without a diaper or pull-ups. We think she can since she wakes up from naps dry about half the time. (My only hesitation about this is that if she wets the bed, I know that she will wake up and the nap will be over. And I don't like anything that shortens Morgan's naps!)
So, hooray for Morgan! She is very proud of herself and we are proud of her too!

Baby Update - 34 Weeks

Six weeks to go! Hard to believe. Time to really start preparing for this kid!

We bought his bed this weekend. I'm looking forward to setting it up and reassuring Morgan that baby brother will, in fact, "no take [her] bed!". This this one in blue. Our only other big purchase we need to make is a stroller, but we could really wait until after the baby is born for that. I've been updating our shopping list with all of the other little things we may need/want so I don't forget!

I had my 32 week checkup a while back. Morgan and Jon got to go with me to this one. Morgan was very excited and collected all of the samples and coupon packs in the waiting room saying "these presents for baby brother". Then she was thrilled to hear the heartbeat. "I heard baby brother hammering!" she told me the next day. Baby is still growing well and sounding good. His head is down and locked into place so he shouldn't be turning back around anytime! The nurse predicted he'll be about the same size as Morgan when she was born -- 7 to 7.5 lbs. My next checkup is on the 21st.

Well, time to start some cleaning now. Its raining today which is kind of a bummer, but we should be able to get some things done around the house!

Tired

Sorry for the looooooong blogging absence. Its been an exhausting couple of weeks. Morgan has taken 5 naps in the last 13 days. Thats not cool. And on the days when she doesn't nap, she is a huge uncooperative, angry, whiny, demanding monster. When she does nap she's just a little uncooperative, angry, whiny, demanding monster! Yes, the terrible twos are in full swing over here.
We have managed to have some fun, though. The weather had been great (if a bit warm for me) so we've made multiple trips to the park, hung out at the beach, fed ducks at the lake, and visited the Strawberry Festival. Its hard to believe this was Morgan's 3rd Strawberry Festival. There aren't many annual events that she's experienced 3 times yet!

The next couple of months will probably be very hectic for us, too. Jon & I put together a 6-week cleaning and maintenance plan for the house so we will hopefully have it in selling condition BEFORE the baby comes. We'll have to be going full speed from here through the end of the year. I'll keep trying to post regular updates, though!
